KENT BEEKEEPERS` ASSOCIATION
Orpington Branch Newsletter November 2001

I hope you have all remembered to send back your membership forms with remittance to Tony Trinick and have also signed the Gift Aid Declaration. As you no doubt know by now, if you aren't a member, you don't get "Beecraft", so if you are one of those who hasn't got around to it, do it now!

As a result of the unwelcome news that Pyrethroid-resistant varroa have been found in Devon, Tony Trinick has arranged for James Morton to come and give a talk to us on Wednesday February 13th next year, so please make a note of it in your next year's diary. It is possible that we already have the problem here but don't know it. At any rate, it will be with us at some time in the future - remember that we met varroa only about two years after it was found in Devon.

Don't forget the AGM and Harvest Supper which is at Petts Wood Memorial Hall on Wednesday November 14th, starting at 8.00pm. Members who turn up have an enjoyable evening; if you haven't been one of them so far, why not come along?

A reminder to Committee members - the next meeting is on Friday November 2nd and is at Kit Erhardt's house.

Finally, a reminder about the Christmas Party at Gordon and Jackie's house. It is on Saturday December 8th and the price is £7 per person. As usual, we would like you to buy your tickets in advance so that we know how much food and wine to lay on.

Frank
