Hard Life

To collect a pound of honey a bee might have to fly a distance equivalent to twice round the world. This is likely to involve more than 10,000 flower visits on perhaps 500 foraging trips.
A worker honeybee in summer lives only 6 to 8 weeks from the time she hatches as an adult bee. Before that, it takes just 3 weeks for her to develop from an egg.

Time: 7.30 for 8pm

Dr. Alaisdair Stewart, who runs the allergy desensitisation unit in the Medway area is coming to talk to beekeepers about allergic reactions to bee stings and the treatments available to help relieve symptoms. He will cover all types of reaction, not just anaphylaxis.

Do come along and hear what he has to say. The knowledge you gain from the talk may help another beekeeper.

Venue: Atomwide Ltd, Ravensquay Business Centre, Cray Avenue, Orpington, BR5 4BQ. 

There will be tea and coffee available from 7.30pm and the talk will begin at 8pm.
