Bring a honey sample to this years National Honey Show and help PhD student Nicola Simcock with her research.
Hi, my name is Nicola Simcock and I am a PhD student in the honeybee lab at Newcastle University. Primarily my research is focused on trying to understand what honeybees are able to taste by using a number of different techniques and recently I have begun work on assessing the contents of honey in order to compare what the bees can taste with what the bees actually eat. In addition, the data we collect will be used in a larger project; the insect pollinators initiative, that involves a number of labs across the UK.
To accomplish my goal I am appealing to any beekeeper that is willing to get involved by providing me a small sample of honey from their hive. I will be attending this years national Honey show in Surrey to try and boost my sample number. Once published the data will be accessible to the public, so if you would like to get involved please come along to the honey show or get in touch, the more samples the merrier!
