Beekeeping Taster Courses 2013

Three beekeeping taster courses running in March, May and August 2013.
Venue: East Kent, Bridge nr. Canterbury.
Course Description: This is a one day event lasting approximately 31/2 hours. The event is designed for people who are not sure if they want to become beekeepers. This event is ideal for people who want to find out more about beekeeping before considering taking a more detailed course. We will look at types of equipment used, the good and the bad, some good ideas and some not so good, what protective clothing is needed, the life of a colony, the beekeeper’s year, how much time will it take, siting the hive, stings, neighbours, and subject to weather conditions, we will open a hive in our dedicated teaching apiary. We will inspect bees you will get to handle live bees on a frame taken from one of our hives. All protective clothing will be supplied, you will need high pair of boots i.e. wellingtons or ankle length boots.
