How Many Beekeepers

In the UK there are approximately 44,000 beekeepers looking after around 240,000 hives.
They produce 6000 tones of honey per year.
Each hive is worth about £400 to the agricultural economy.
We produce only 20% of the honey we consume - the rest is imported.

Location: Community Room, TESCO Crooksfoot store, Hythe Road, Willesborough, Ashford, TN24 0YE  (off junction 10 of the M20)

Course Dates & Times:
Week 1 Friday 6th May 7-9pm
Week 2 Friday 13th May 7-9pm
Week 3 Friday 20th May 7-9pm
Week 4 Friday 27th May 7-9pm

This intensive theory course will be held over 4 consecutive evenings from 7pm to 9pm and will give you all the information that you need to successfully keep your first colony of bees. The course is tutored by an experienced and qualified beekeeper.

4 Week Course Outline:
Week 1: Colony Inhabitants Life Cycles Honey Bee Communication
Week 2: Beekeeping Equipment Costings
Week 3: Siting your Apiary Swarm Control Honey Extraction Integrated Pest Management
Week 4: Pests & Diseases

Course costs £70.00 per person. Price includes handouts, tea, coffee & biscuits.
