John Hendrie will run an eight-week theory course starting on Wednesday 19th January 2011 at Hildenborough Village Hall, Riding Lane, from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. No session on 2nd March last session on 16th March.

Refreshments & handouts will be provided.

The Eight sessions are:

1. Introduction, Importance of Beekeeping, Local & National Support;
2. The Colony. Natural History of the honeybees, communications;
3. History. Equipment. Setting up an apiary;
4. The Beekeeping year and colony management, handling honey;
5. Swarms. Reason for swarms, swarm control, swarm collection;
6. Queens. Queen rearing, Marking & Clipping;
7. Pests and Diseases. Statutory requirements;
8. Hive products. Pollination, Getting started.
