Welcome
to the January 2003 issue of Bromley News.
It's sad news to report the passing of Bromley Branch member John Pearce. John was an excellent beekeeper and a superb showman and will be tremendously missed by his beekeeping friends. His funeral will be on Monday 6th January at 1pm at Croydon Crematorium. Family flowers only. The Croydon Crematorium is on Thornton Road (A23), Thornton Heath CR7. With the holidays over, we should be thinking about the 2003 beekeeping season. My priority is to have 2 new brood chambers ready for a complete change over (replacing all frames and foundation) on my strongest stocks. Happy New Year Steven

News Sadly our friend John Pearce passed away a few days before Christmas and several of us will be attending his funeral on Monday 6th January. This sad event is fully reported elsewhere in this issue. Sufficient for me to convey my sincere condolences to his family. On a brighter vein is this month's lecture on the evening of Tuesday the 21st which will be given by Brian Palmer who will be talking about his visit to Apimondia that was held in South Africa in 2001. This great beekeeping event takes place in a different country each time and is held on alternate years. 2003 will be in Slovenia and 2005 will be in Ireland. You will be pleased to hear that I am fully recovered from my leg trouble that I reported last moth. Unfortunately I am now suffering from a cold but trust that with a good dose of whiskey and a rest in bed I will be well on the way to recovery by the time you read this. Once
again I wish you all the very best for 2003 and trust your beekeeping
and other activities will surpass your expectations.
