Local shows are competitive, and the best of the best, frequently from old hands who have had years to practice, is entered into the National Honey Show.

There are honey, wax, mead, a new honey beer class, artistic, cake and confectionery exhibits. There is a trade exhibition from vendors of bee equipment, bee associations, books and more. There is also a new colouring activity for children, downloadable from the website.

Judging of the entries takes place on the Thursday morning, and the show is open to visitors from Thursday 2pm.

A programme of very popular workshops has been developed over the last three years with a focus on preparing exhibits for the show bench.  Some of the expert prizewinners share their knowledge, experience, tips and tricks with newcomers.
