Bromley
Bee Improvement Group (Bee-BIG) met
for an inaugural meeting. The following were elected as officers.
Chair – Tom Winks, Secretary (and Treasurer) Jenny
Spon-Smith, Programme Coordinator and Record Keeper, Mike
Oliver.
Those
present agreed the following propositions. That an annual membership
fee of £8 per head be levied to cover costs of
possible rent charges if we wished to use the Allotments Society’s
hut other than at branch meetings and also to cover Secretarial
expenses. That the next meeting will be at 10am on Sunday
3rd 2005 April before the Branch meeting and that consideration
be given to making this a regular practice. That a draft programme
of activities for the season be drawn up by Mike Oliver for discussion
at the next meeting. That the Branch be asked to allocate some
space in the new Apiary hut to accommodate the Group’s equipment.
That consideration be given to obtaining a reasonable amount of
basic equipment (mini-nucs etc) when visiting the Convention next
month and that the cost be shared between subscribing members (limited
to an outlay of £12 per head.)
It was also hoped that a visit could be made to the North Kent
Bee Breeders Group, (Medway) to find out how they do things.
Quite
a few people who had filled in forms at the last Branch meeting
were absent and I would encourage them to contact Jenny (with £8
please) if you wish to be involved further. Due to the fact that
(in the initial stages) the set-up costs (equipment, etc) will
be borne by the members, it is likely that there will be a cut-off
date for joining at the present subscription level so that late
joiners do not obtain an unfair advantage over Founder members.
Therefore if you do not join before the 30th April 2005, there
will be a one-off Joining Fee of £17 in addition to your
first year’s subscription. So Join Now and
