Practicing tips for beginner guitarist's By Steve Mac Published: Sunday 12th November, 2006 PrintEmail
During the first weeks and months of your guitar playing/practicing you may experience some soreness in the finger tips of your fretting hand. If this happens, stop take a break or continue practising the following day. After a while your fingers will become stronger and any soreness will eventually disappear. Here are some more useful tips on practising:
Practice regularly It's far better to practise a little every day than leave it all to the weekend or the day before your guitar lesson.
Always have good posture When practising, try not to hunch over the guitar, and make sure you sit up straight.
Where should I practise? If you can, try to find somewhere that's quiet, now I know this can be difficult sometimes but if you can you will be able to concentrate and focus a lot better on your playing.
Keep a record of your practising Keeping a diary or a timetable of your practising will allow you to monitor and reflect on the amount of time you are actually putting in. Writing in what you practise and for how long will provide you with an good record of your efforts.
Have fun Above anything else have fun and never forget that you're playing the best instrument in the world!
